TEDxMET: the first TED event to take place in an art museum. The event's theme will be Icons: we make them, we break them, and some of us become them. As part of TEDxMET, James Nares will present the first ever wordless TED talk.
Join us for an unprecedented daylong celebration of signature buildings, singular stories, modern lives, and medieval beliefs, featuring speakers and performances from a range of disciplines. These "ideas worth spreading" from writers, scientists, musicians, and Met curators, are presented in the signature full-throttle TED style.
Participants include choreographer Bill T. Jones, Nobel Laureate Eric Kandel, artist Lorna Simpson, writer Andrew Solomon, and Met Costume Institute Curator Andrew Bolton. Lunch is included and will be in The Temple of Dendur in The Sackler Wing.
The event will be streamed live on Saturday, October 19, 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. For live updates during TEDxMet, follow @metmuseum on Twitter and Instagram. Those attending the event or following along online can use the hashtag #TEDxMet and tag @metmuseum to be a part of the conversation.
